Subhadra is the incarnation of Yogamaya . She is the sister of Krishna and Balarama, wife of Arjuna, and mother of Abhimanyu. She is the daughter of Vasudeva and his second wife Rohini Devi. She is much younger to Krishna and Balarama as she was born after Vasudeva was released from Kamsa's prison.
Subhadra is one of the three deities worshipped at the Jagannath temple at Puri, along with her brothers Krishna (as Jagannatha) and Balarama (or Balabhadra). One of the chariots in the annual Ratha Yatra is dedicated to her (Devadalana(ଦେବଦଳନ)/Darpadalana(ଦର୍ପଦଳନ ).
YOGAMAYA (mystic illusion)
What is Maya? It is the illusion. There are two kinds of maya- Yogamaya and Mahamaya. Mahamaya is the expansion of Yogamaya Mahamaya refers to” yayā sammohitaḿ jagat, "one who bewilders the entire material world." From this statement it is to be understood that yogamaya, in her partial expansion, becomes mahamaya and bewilders the conditioned souls. In other words, the entire creation has two divisions — transcendental, or spiritual, and material. Yogamaya manages the spiritual world, and by her partial expansion as mahamaya she manages the material world. Both these mayas are different expressions of the Lord's internal potencies. To give service to the Lord, yogamaya appeared along with mahamaya
Subhadra is yogamaya. The spiritual energy is called yogamaya, and she has 16 different expansions. Out of these 16 expansions, Subhadra is one. The mahamaya of the material energy is also expansion of the energy of yogamaya; and both yogamaya and mahamaya are equally important to Krishna as much as any government department is equally important for functioning of the government.
Subhadra is form of Yogamaya and Durga is partial expansion of Yogmaya which is known as Mahamaya. Mahamaya manages material world and Yogamaya manages spiritual world.
Subhadra, the central figure of the sacred Triad, plays a prominent role in the religious life of the Hindus. She is the primordial Energy. In her womb are both the creation and the doom. She is also kali, the closing aspect of creation, when Siva is Mahakala. She is loving and benevolent when she is represented as Ambika or Parvati. As Durga(Mahamaya) she is irresistible, and she protects and rescues the gods and men (in the same way like her consort lord Siva), when the wicked forces attempt to destroy the good and the pious. Her position amidst Balabhadra and Jagannath, proves that she is at par-excellence with the male-deities.
